Hi Steve,

Yes, we use adomdclient 10.0. But it works with MS SQL 2005 Analysis Services too.

We cannot distribute AdomdClient 10.0 but you can download it directly from Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=228de03f-3b5a-428a-923f-58a033d316e1&displaylang=en

Please download and install appropriate package for you platform:

X86 Package <http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=130651&clcid=0x409> (SQLSERVER2008_ASADOMD10.msi) - 4312 KB

X64 Package <http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=130652&clcid=0x409>  (SQLSERVER2008_ASADOMD10.msi) - 9263 KB

IA64 Package <http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=130653&clcid=0x409> (SQLSERVER2008_ASADOMD10.msi) - 6776 KB

Alternatively you can rebuild all our server components with AdomdClient 9.0. The source code is available at Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/ranet-uilibrary-olap/source/checkout).

All you need is to change reference and to generate you own snk-file.

Silverlight controls have no reference to AdomdClient and work with MSAS 2005 (excluding Writeback ability).

Warm regards,

Anatoly

I am exploring your sample to execute our MDX query against our cube in Silverlight application.

In InitializeWebService  we are using AdomdConnection, I need to use one specific common userId /password. But when I supply that userId/password in connection string, Adomd does not respect it, but considers my windows user credenstials to conenct to SSAS. So fails to Open the connection.

Please advice.

Thanks, Mahesh

It is not good practice to set password in connection string.

To use user/password authentification in Adomd client ConnecttionString you have to configure use http/https Access to SQL Server 2005/2008 Analysis Services:

Please read about configuring HTTP Access to SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services on Microsoft Windows XP: [http://technet.microsoft.com/ru-ru/library/cc917712%28en-us%29.aspx]

Sample Olap Connection String="Data Source=https://dpp-anatol.topsoft.local/OLAP/msmdpump.dll;Initial Catalog=Adventure Works DW;User Id=testuser;password=1"

It's work for me (after I have configurated the /OLAP virtual directory to path with msmdpump.dll)

Alternatively you can change impersonating settings to while hosting UITest.Web under IIS in Web.Config:

<system.web> <identity impersonate="false" /> </system.web>.

In this case all requests to OLAP will be performed from asp.net service identity (no need to pass user identity in connection string)

Anatoly
